This year we'll be knee deep in kids festivities, but I want to repost the details from the last adult Halloween soiree I hosted (a spooky Halloween cocktail party) for those looking for inspiration. I went with a spooky theme for my Halloween cocktail party, using cob webs, creepy crawlies and skulls. I did a few simple DIY projects. I made
Creepy Crawlie Spider Ice Cubes, used plastic spider rings as wine glass charms and made a spider ice ring for a spooky sangria punch. I used faux cob webs on a black background made from
black weed blocking fabric from the hardware store, and
mini white pumpkins on pillar candle holders for a stylish and modern twist on decorating with gourds. I also repurposed an old metallic picture frame and drape it with cob webs and scraps of
shredded black fabric for that haunted house feel. One of my favorite DIY projects, which I will be making again this year, is the
Pumpkin Vase that I made out of a hollowed-out pumpkin filled with creepy thistle flowers.
My
Halloween Cocktail Party Menu included simple finger foods that can be made in advance;
Orange-Soy Steak Skewers with Chili Sauce, Sweet Potato Patties with Mango Chutney,
Caramelized Bacon,
Sweet & Spicy Toasted Pumpkin Seeds,
Hot Spinach Dip,
Citrus Black Olives and
Individual Popcorn Bags garnished with plastic spider rings. (If you ask anyone who was at the party the Caramelized Bacon was the hit of the party, and I have several friends and clients have incorporated the recipe into other cocktail party menus.)
Halloween wouldn't be complete without some sweet treats, so the menu also included the easiest ever
Mini Pumpkin Cupcakes (made with store-bought cake mix), a spooky Spider Web Cheesecake with a chocolate cookie crust, and an easy DIY project for
Spooky Spider Web Stamped Party Favor Bags filled with your favorite chocolate candies.
