I had some sparkly black pom poms leftover after making antennas for my daughter's Bumble Bee "Bee-Day" Birthday Party
, and decided to use them up by making glittery pom pom toothpicks for my New Years Eve Cocktail Party
. This DIY project is so simple - you don't even need a hot glue gun. Here is a list of what you do need to make these glittery pom pom toothpicks and the satin covered holder.
Cardboard toothpick holder (use a shot glass if the toothpicks did not come with a holder to repurpose)
Glittery pom poms (about the side of the tip of your thumb)
To make the toothpicks:
Poke the toothpick into the center of a pom pom and once you hit the firm middle of the pom pom the toothpick will hold on its own. Repeat with all of the pom poms to make as many as you need.
To make the toothpick holder:
I took the rope-covered cardboard holder that the toothpicks came in, removed the rope and instead used double sided tape to cover it with a scrap of silver satin faux bois ribbon that I had leftover from holiday gift wrapping (you can use any ribbon you have on hand for this project). The ribbon was narrower than the holder so I used two pieces wrapped around next to each other (overlapping a bit to make sure that the cardboard underneath did not show) to cover the entire holder.
This DIY project is so simple (took about 5 minutes total), and cost nothing since I used leftovers from other DIY projects. It's a cute and inexpensive way to add a little sparkle to a New Years Eve Cocktail Party
, an Oscar party or any other party where you want to add a little glitz and glitter to your party decor.
