DIY :: Use Balloon Ice Packs to Keep Bevies Cool

While I'm not genereally a huge fan of decorating with balloons, I do love the idea of using balloons in unexpected ways for parties (see my post on water balloon cake toppers). With all of the summer celebrations and outdoor parties, I think this idea is definitely worth sharing. Instead of using regular ice to keep drinks cool for a party, fill standard-size balloons half full with water and freeze them in advance. Use colors that go with your party theme, like school colors for the graduate or red, white and blue for a patriotic celebration. Although the balloon ice packs will produce some condensation as they melt, they're neater than melted ice and add some color to your cooler. And nothing says party like balloons.
